Ranch, oh Ranch. You are my sunshine. My Dear. I mean some of you that also grew up in the era of eating “rolls and ranch” for lunch may feel like good ol’ Ranch Dip is played out. But not I, nor my own kids, who are in their own Ranch Dip Era. Out of all of the condiments I make in our house, it’s the one I make most by far.
So, after many moons of filling the empty Ranch Jar yet again, may I present to you the easiest, most delicious, herby and creamy dip and dressing with no packets or artificial ingredients involved.

Here’s how it’s done
Step 1: Grab your ingredients
There are only a few simple ingredients. And while I will give you my recommended ratios for the seasonings, it’s simple to adjust them based on your preferences. Another thing I like to add to give it a tiny bit of a tang is a few fresh squeezes of lemon. It just brightens it up and cuts the richness just enough.

Step 2: Mix + adjust
Start with mayo and sour cream. That’s your base. Then add the seasonings: onion powder, dill, parsley, salt, and pepper. Dash a few drops of lemon juice in there and that’s it! Take a little taste and add more dill and parsley if you like a more herby flavor, a little more lemon if you like tartness, or more salt and onion powder if you are into the savory, salty profile.
There are so many ways to customize this recipe to your liking:
- Prefer a “dressing” instead of a dip? Add a bit of milk or cream and stir to thin out to your preferred texture.
- Love Garlicky Ranch? Add 1 Tbsp of minced garlic into the mix
- Want a lower calorie “healthier” version? Replace the Sour Cream with Greek Yogurt.
- Prefer fresh herbs? Replace the dried dill and parsley with fresh!
Step 3: Airtight container + Refrigerate
I promise, once you make this and see how easy it is, plus how superior and fresh the flavor is in comparison to store-bought or packaged ranch, you won’t go back! You’ll be stirring up Ranch regularly, like I am.
